Next year Warner Bros. will expand the DC Cinematic Universe by releasing two DC films. The first will be Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, while David Ayer’s Suicide Squad hits theaters a few months after. The former will follow the destructive events of Man of Steel, with Batman (Ben Affleck), the defender of Gotham City, declaring war on Superman (Henry Cavill), the hero of Metropolis. The trailer for the film only gave us a glimpse at what is expected to be a epic showdown between two iconic superheroes.
Now, Empire has released a new cover image of the eponymous heroes standing tall. Check out the latest cover of Empire’s magazine here below.
Director Zack Snyder is fully aware of what is at stake, and understands the trend of the interconnected universe with superhero films,
“I want all the other directors of the other films to be able to stretch their legs and do what they want, but at the same time there is a big interconnected universe.”
Written by Chris Terrio, based on a story by David Goyer, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, and Jason Momoa as Aquaman. The sequel will introduce new characters created for the film, one of which will be played by Holly Hunter. Scoot McNairy also plays an unidentified role.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on March 25, 2015.
Here’s the official plot synopsis,
