The Deadpool trailer has finally arrived. For some, it’s been too long of a wait, especially since the character was completely wasted in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But 11 years later, dedicated fans, and a certain someone who leaked the video, convinced Fox that a Deadpool that was true to the source material was worth it. “One year ago, it was some asshole who released the footage onto the internet,” said Ryan Reynolds. The actor couldn’t even believe that 20th Century Fox would let him make a R-rated superhero movie.
So, after waiting for nearly three weeks since the footage was shown at SDCC, we can finally show you the Deadpool trailer in HD. Hopefully you are wearing your brown pants. Check it out below — both the R-rated red-band version and all-ages green band version.
“It’s the most faithful adaptation of a comic book to a movie I’ve ever seen,” said Reynolds. Based on the footage that was shown at SDCC, it does stay true to the comics. One thing we should be thankful for, other than the guy who leaked the footage that allowed this film to happen, is that Fox allowed Deadpool to be rated R, because as we have seen before, a softer and tamer version of the fourth-wall-breaking mercenary wouldn’t do the character any justice.
Deadpool also stars Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand. Directed by Tim Miller using a script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Fox will release the film into theaters on February 16, 2016.
Here’s the official plot synopsis,
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
