One of the most highly anticipated shows coming this fall is Minority Report, based off the 2002 sci-fi action movie by Steven Spielberg, which in itself was based on the Philip K. Dick. The film starred Tom Cruise as a policeman in the futuristic pre-crime division. Murder has basically been done away with thanks to three pre-cogs, kids born with the ability to see murders before they happen. When Cruise’s John Anderton was seen committing murder and subject to arrest, he broke in and kidnapped one of them, Agatha, to help clear his name. When Anderton does not commit the murder and exposes a conspiracy to frame him, orchestrated by his former mentor Lamar Burgess (Max Von Sydow), it in turn exposes the dangers and ethical violations of pre-crime. The film ends with the pre-crime division being shut down. The new series, written and co-executive produced by Max Borenstein, picks up ten years later in 2065, and focuses on pre-cog Dash (Stark Sands) coping with his visions, and trying to prevent murders.
Watch the new preview videos below.
We catch glimpses of Dash’s struggle. Without the pre-crime unit, his visions go wasted. Murders take place. He just wants to stop one. That’s where Lt. Lara Vega comes in. Played by Meagan Good, Vega finds Dash and recognizes him as a pre-cog. Wanting to prevent murders as much as Dash, they form an unlikely alliance which secretly uses pre-crime technology to hunt down violent criminals. The show will also focus on stopping those intent on exploiting the pre-cogs abilities.
Co-starring That 70’s Show’s Wilmer Valderrama, Nick Zano, and Lauren Regan, Minority Report premieres on Monday night, September 21st at 9:00pm ET on FOX.
