A new promotional video has been released for The Martian, the upcoming sci-fi drama directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Sebastian Stan, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sean Bean, Mackenzie Davis, Aksel Hennie, and Donald Glover.

Instead of a trailer, the video is presented realistically, as a special episode of StarTalk with astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson talking about mankind finally visiting Mars and the upcoming mission there that we’ll see in the movie. It’s basically like an episode of Cosmos…from the future!

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. The Martian is set to arrive in theaters a couple of months from now in the fall, on October 2nd.
