Last week on Arrow, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) finally finds Ray (Brandon Routh)! Except that he is really tiny and being held captive in a teeny glass box by Damian Darhk (Neal McDonough). There’s an elaborate rescue plan (isn’t there always?), helped tremendously by Lance (Paul Blackthorne), which involves Oliver’s captivity. Hopefully, getting Ray back will help Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity get back on track. Although it was fun watching Diggle (David Ramsey) and Oliver bond over whisky and relationships. Felicity’s mom (guest star Charlotte Ross) shows up, and of course that drives Ms. Smoak cuckoo. Sara (Caity Lotz) leaves town.

Spoilers below.

Arrow 4.7 “Brotherhood” recap/review: Diggle shows Oliver the file he got on his brother from Lance via Darhk. Lance, by the way, is playing with magical fire. Oliver tries to get Diggle to be more open to the possibility of explanations. Diggle is having none of that.

Felicity does not understand why Ray won’t “come back to life.” We know why (LOT!). He helps her look at the cyanide capsule. The gang goes on a recon mission to get some ghost DNA. What they find is impossible.

Diggle: “Andy?” Okay… I definitely called that though.

The blood lust is returning to Thea. Malcolm (John Barrowman) shows up and tries to hand her a giftwrapped pedophile file (haha).

Oliver holds an event honoring Star City PD. Darhk shows up and “darkly” tries to convince Oliver to leave Starling Bay alone. I must admire Stephen Amell’s clever acting. He was really good at pretending to not know Darhk.

In the flashbacks, Oliver’s nemesis finally gets his – whipped by Oliver. But now Oliver has to tell the cave lady that HE killed her brother. I’m sure she won’t understand that it was a setup. I’m still not really understanding everything that is going on on that island, and now without Constantine, I’m finding it hard to care. I guess that will be revealed soon.

Oliver and Diggle try to ambush H.I.V.E. That doesn’t work. Then they all try to do it, including Ray. Whoa… Thea’s fight is insanely intense. She is crazy. The others fight with perfect choreography.

Enter Darhk: “It’s Merida! Aren’t you out a little past your bedtime?” Tee-hee! He tries to put the magic whammy on her, but he shorts out.

Diggle shows up a bit late to the party, but all is forgiven: “My brother needed me. the green one.” Aw!!! bromance!

Thea invites Malcolm over. She tells him of Darhk’s failure to kill her, but also that it magically cured her of bloodlust temporarily.

Diggle tries to talk, rather scream at Andy, who merely says that the file is true.

Openly challenging Damian Darhk at a press conferencewith his stare, Oliver vows to fight the fight, in the “light of day.”

This was a good episode. maybe not the best one I’ve seen, but it edged us closer to some of the answers we have been seeking – Thea has another shot at a cure, Damian Darhk is not infallible, they got Andy back alive and well, but still crazy, Ray is searching for something else (which he will find), oh, and is also not a bumbling idiot in the metal suit anymore. I liked the plot development, as well as Thea reaching out to her dad, although that will probably blow up in her face again. Malcolm just can’t help it.

Arrow returns in 2 weeks with a Flash/Arrow crossover event on The CW.
