‘Ghostbusters’ International Trailer Should Have Been The Domestic Trailer

Ghostbusters 2016 Reboot -- Chris Hemsworth

If the first Ghostbusters trailer didn’t quite live up to your to expectations, unless those expectations were to criticize Leslie Jones for playing an MTA employee and not a scientist – “It’s not a race thang,” the comedian assured critics and fans in a tweet – then a brand new international trailer might be to your liking.

Sony has just released the new international trailer for the Paul Feig-directed reboot, which features a bit more action than the first one, and more speaking lines for Chris Hemsworth. Check it out below.

Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon star as the new team of Ghostbusters. This time, the new international trailer reveals some more (and better in my opinion) jokes. The first trailer was less than memorable and really didn’t resonate. It did show off the cast’s chemistry, and McKinnon was practically a scene stealer. But in the international trailer, it’s Jones who steals the show.

The international trailer also gives us a better look at Hemsworth, who will play the Ghostbusters’ secretary. He fills in for Annie Potts, who played the secretary in the original films. This time he actual speaks, and we get to see the chemistry between him and the rest of the crew. But this wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve seen Hemsworth in a comedic role. He’s already proven that he can be funny in Vacation, and as Thor in all of his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But I get the feeling that his comedic role in Ghostbusters will be different from anything he’s done in a comedy. Seeing as this trailer comes from Sony Pictures Entertainment Australia, it’s no surprise that we are seeing a bit more of Hemsworth in this trailer than the other one.

Don’t let those early title cards in the trailer fool you, this is a reboot and not a sequel.

Ghostbusters will hit theaters nationwide on July 15th, 2016.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal fighting elements that made the original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the funniest actors working today. Get ready to watch them save the world this summer!
