Screen Junkies Honest trailer Divergent Insurgent

I honestly can’t believe they are still make these movies. I thought once The Hunger Games were over and done with, they just stop making these tacky knock-off YA series movies… but alas, nope. So, in preparation for yet another one of these things, Allergent… nope Allegiant… the gang at Screen Junkies decided to rip apart part two in the somehow 4-part Divergent saga, Insurgent.

Check out the Honest Trailer below.

Narrator Jon Bailey is brutal, and really, there is nothing nice to even say at this point. A running gag in previous young adult Honest Trailers is to constantly compare them to each other and that continues here in spades. Bailey stopped mid-Divergent HT to say, “Wait we did this one already!” And its new title was “Not The Hunger Games”. When they did The Maze Runner, the new title was “The Hunger Maze.” It’s not beating a dead horse because the studios are the ones who literally keep making the same movie, and teenagers are paying to see the same thing over and over. So let’s do it again…

“The next installment of YA tropes and SAT words sold to teenagers who have already outgrown the genre,” damn it man get out of my head! Try to remember what happened in the first movie because you’re about to get a ton more of post-apocalyptic future world jargon: abnegation, dauntless, factionless… ugh. I teach history to high school students and they can’t handle terms like “Imperialism” and “Reformation” but they understand THIS! In a hilarious moment, Bailey gets sick and tired of all the stupid lingo and starts dropping SAT bombs like there’s no tomorrow. And when copying every detail of other better more successful YA stories gets too boring, Insurgent ups the ante and blatantly copies The Matrix. The similarities in the side by sides are just too much to ignore.

Bailey then has to again stop himself fearing he is redoing an Honest Trailer, this time Maze Runner, and again the comparisons are ridiculous; like when a student who never does their work, hands in the exact same assignment as the smart kid who sits in front of him. So suffer through all the boring YA cliches you’re tired of like “boobless PG-13 sex,” and “bloodless PG-13 violence,” and the very worst thing of all… JAI COURTNEY! Wait… he dies… okay, score one for Insurgent!

Starring: Dr. Octo-tris, Four… of these movies? Really?!, Titanic waste of talent (Kate Winslet), Naomi “Watt” are you doing in this movie? (HAHA), and Has the Best Agent in Hollywood (Jai Courtney); new title… Detergent: Inverted (actual snort laughter for that one).

Screen Junkies has over 5.2 million subscribers on YouTube and release a new Honest Trailer every Tuesday.

Strap in for two hours of teenage wish fulfillment in a movie that is doing a really terrible job of convincing us it’s not the Maze Runner – The Divergent Series: Insurgent.
