Back in 2012 we heard word that Sony had plans for Men In Black 4, 21 Jump Street 2, and a Jumanji remake. We’ve already seen 22 Jump Street, and, intriguingly enough, a Men in Black and Jump Street crossover movie appears to be actually happening.
Now the Jumanji remake, or re-imagining, is also coming together. The movie already has Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart, who are co-starring together in the upcoming comedy Central Intelligence, set for the remake. And now it’s been revealed that High Fidelity and Bernie star Jack Black has joined them on the cast.
Black is no stranger to stories like this having recently starred in the somewhat similar movie adaptation of the Goosebumps books, in which the many horrors found in the books came to life. So he should fit right in here.
The Rock announced Black’s casting on his Instagram account:
The original was released back in 1995, and followed two children (Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce) who begin to play a magical board game which releases countless dangers and a man (Robin Williams) who’s been trapped in the game for decades who tells them the only way to fix everything is to finish the game.
