It’s hard to believe that Disney actually made money this year from sources outside Marvel comics, but let’s not forget Zootopia, the latest Pix-sny… Dis-nar… PIXAR film that grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. Zootopia was great and my 5-year old daughter loved it; which means I have a reprieve from Frozen!!! Even if they purposely have Idris Elba’s Chief Bogo tell Judy to “Let it go” in a not-so-subtle wink at parents. With the movie being released on Blu-ray and DVD this week, the gang at Screen Junkies gave it the Honest Trailer treatment.
Check out the Honest Trailer below.
Marvel at how Pixar can create intelligent and multi-layered animal characters… and then give them names like Judy Hopps (a rabbit), Mayor Lionheart (a lion), the Otterton family (you guessed it), Duke Weaselton (yep), a pop singer called Gazelle. I guess this is where Disney/Pixar ran out of creativity. Narrator Jon Bailey has to hold back his anger at describing Judy Hopps’ job as a meter maid; because anyone who drives in New York knows how AWESOME meter maids are… that was sarcasm.
Follow along a genitalia-less romp through a kids movie/noir thriller. And get into all the super cool socio-political commentary, like the weird moment where Judy (Ginnifer Goodwin) explains to one of the cops that only bunnies can call other bunnies “cute”. Yeah”¦ I work in a large urban high school… I get it. But the movie goes the extra mile to dispel stereotypes; except for the ones about foxes being sneaky, weasels being weasley and sloths being ssssssllllllllooooooooowww.
Starring: NYPD Bluth, The Part in the trailer That Made You Want to See the Movie (sloth scene), Buff-a-Luther, Mayor Mustafa, Shakira as Shakira, a bunch of obvious stereotypes, and Hot Fuzz”¦ New Title: Paw and Order.
Zootopia came out on Blu-Ray and DVD Tuesday. Screen Junkies have over 5.5 million subscribers on YouTube and release new Honest Trailers every Tuesday.
