Horizon: Zero Dawn

In addition to Mass Effect: Andromeda, another game that was used to show off Sony’s newly announced PS4 Pro 4K console was Horizon: Zero Dawn with a new gameplay trailer.

Part Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, part Far Cry Primal, part Assassin’s Creed, the game is set in a post-apocalyptic future where humans have been set back to prehistoric ways and machines rule the land. The gameplay trailer doesn’t show as much as gameplay demos we’ve seen in the past, but it does reveal the ability to climb those gigantic giraffe-like machines we’ve seen, Shadow of the Colossus style.

Read more about the game and watch the new gameplay trailer below.

The next era of mankind

In a lush, vibrant, post-apocalyptic open world, colossal mechanized creatures roam a landscape that they have torn from the grip of mankind.

Human evolution has, over time, regressed to a tribal hunter-gatherer existence, surviving amongst towering forests, imposing mountain ranges and the atmospheric ruins of a bygone civilisation – while the savage machines have become all-powerful.

You are Aloy, a skilled hunter who relies on speed, cunning and agility to stay alive and protect her tribe against the strength, size and raw power of the machines. Against overwhelming odds, you must embark on a compelling, emotional journey to uncover the secrets of a forgotten civilisation, the ancient artifacts they left behind, and to learn more about the advanced technologies that will determine the fate of the planet – and of human life itself.

A lush post-apocalyptic world

Scour every corner of a realm filled with ancient relics and mysterious buildings to uncover your past and unearth the many secrets of a forgotten land. How have machines dominated this world, what is their purpose – and what became of the civilization here before?

Nature and machines collide

Explore a vibrant world rich with the beauty of nature – but inhabited by awe-inspiring highly advanced technology. Guide Aloy through this dynamic environment primed for constant exploration and exhilarating gameplay.

Defy overwhelming odds

Master the speed and cunning of Aloy versus the raw strength and size of the machines. In order to overcome a much larger and technologically superior enemy, Aloy must use every ounce of her knowledge, intelligence, and agility to survive each encounter.

Cutting edge open world technology

Journey through stunningly detailed forests, imposing mountains and atmospheric ruins of a bygone civilization, together in a landscape that is alive with changing weather systems and a full day/night cycle.

Horizon: Zero Dawn will be released on February 28, 2017. The game can be pre-ordered for PlayStation 4.
