Marvel Agents Of SHIELD 09

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. closed out Friday’s New York Comic-Con panels on the Main Stage. Moderator Jeph Loeb took the stage and began the hour-plus event by introducing new cast member Gabriel Luna (Ghost Rider), and S.H.I.E.L.D. alumni Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) and Chloe Bennet (Daisy).

Loeb first asked Luna to describe for the audience his transformation into the spirit of vengeance. “They made me look like a christmas tree,” Luna joked. “They put a lot of dots all over my face and what looked like a bib.”

Piggybacking off of Luna’s response, Loeb asked Gregg to talk about his response to seeing Ghost Rider for the first time. “When he told me Ghost Rider was coming to the show”¦I’ll be honest”¦I saw the movies,” he said to much laughter from the crowd. “I was nervous about it. Our show is based in science. Two of the coolest characters on the show are Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). We try to ground everything, even the crazy s***”¦but when I saw it for the first time…I was stoked.”

Loeb moved on to mention that “Chloe’s character keeps evolving,” to which Bennet joked, “A different name for each season!” Bennet continued to talk about how filming the first few episodes were very different for her than previous seasons since none of the rest of the main cast were with her. “It was really fun with Gabe the first few days. She’s [Daisy] in a dark place. She’s in a stage of rebellion.” Gregg interrupted with, “You lost two boyfriends in one episode; can we talk about your choice in men?”

Next, Loeb asked Gregg, “What’s it like working for a new boss?” Gregg replied, “I think he started to miss the days of being an agent. He’s kind of relieved.”

Moving on, Loeb opened up the floor to questions from the audience. Some of the highlights were that Clark Gregg should run for president; fans should “stay tuned” (when asked about when the agents would start paying attention to what’s going on in Hell’s Kitchen — referring to Marvel’s Netflix series’); and that Gregg, Bennet, and Luna all went out on the floor on incognito on Friday to interview people, which they showed in a hilarious video.

The final portion of the panel was dedicated to premiering the upcoming episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., airing Tuesday, October 11 at 10pm on ABC. While I’m not allowed to talk about the episode at all, I will say that in my honest opinion, this was one of the best episodes of AoS to date. After what I thought to be an extremely mediocre season 3, this episode really made me excited for the show again, and for what it could be.
