In front of an army of chainsaw foam finger-wearing Ash vs Evil Dead fans at Hammerstein Ballroom for New York Comic-Con on Thursday afternoon, star Bruce Campbell told the screaming crowd that the only way to guarantee more seasons of the show they loved was to subscribe to Starz network and download the Starz App. Literally one day later, Ash vs Evil Dead was renewed by Starz for a third season.
THAT is how powerful Bruce Campbell is, ladies and gentlemen.
According to Deadline, the Season 2 premiere, which hit Starz Sunday night October 2nd, pulled in over 700,000 viewers, up 14% from season 1’s pilot debut. In the show’s core demographic, adults 18-49, the show jumped 63%! Now, the network has renewed the series for a 10-episode third season.
At NYCC, they debuted the hilarious and truly unbelievable second episode to roars from the crowd (see my review of the episode). The panel also featured Campbell’s co-stars Ray Santiago (Pablo), Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly), Lucy Lawless (Ruby), Ted Raimi (Chet), Michelle Hurd (Linda B.), and and the incomparable Lee Majors (Brock Williams). (See my full write-up on the panel, where Bruce Campbell gave me $10!).
After starting Season 2 in Ash’s personal paradise of Jacksonville, Florida, the group quickly retreat to Ash’s hometown of Elk Grove, Michigan where he and his gang are forced to team up with an old rival and deal with his cantankerous old father.
Ash vs Evil Dead‘s third season will premiere in Fall 2017, and based on what we’ve seen in only two Season 2 episodes so far, I cannot even imagine the depths of depravity they will sink to in season 3″¦ but I’ll try.
Dare to say it”¦ musical episode!!!
