The History Channel is revving up its video train, and I am loving it. Getting us ready for the second half of season 4, Vikings has given us a web exclusive of one of its most complex characters, Rollo Lothbrok, played by Clive Standen.
Check out Rollo’s journey below.
At the mid-season finale, Rollo came back to Frankia as “the savior,” his wife so proud. But it did bother him to fight his brother – his emotions showing in his face. His feelings for Lagertha were noticed by his wife as well. But he’s finally become his own man, away from Ragnar’s shadow.
Standen: “He’s taken his destiny and put it in his own hands.” He is the defender of the realm. He is given the “iron hand of Frankia.” Look out Westeros!
Still, a Viking never loses his roots. It will be interesting to see how this manifests in Rollo.
Vikings returns Wednesday, November 30th on The History Channel.
The History Channel’s synopsis:
HISTORY’s hit drama series “Vikings,” filled with calamity, revenge and death, continues on Wednesday, November 30 at 9PM ET/PT. Led by Travis Fimmel (War Craft), the historical based drama moves to Wednesday nights for part two of season four. After being defeated in a monumental battle in Paris against his brother Rollo (Clive Standen), Ragnar disappeared following his humiliating loss. “Vikings” then took an enormous leap forward during the midseason finale, time-jumping to a new era in its characters’ lives. In the midseason premiere, Ragnar’s reappearance in Kattegat triggers a chain of events no one – except the Seer – could have ever imagined. He unexpectedly arrives home to see what has become of his sons and to handle unfinished business in Wessex with King Ecbert (Linus Roache). Meanwhile, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) plans a power play in Kattegat and Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) prepares to fulfill his long-held dream to explore the Mediterranean in a sleek new boat built for him by Floki (Gustaf SkarsgÃ¥rd).

Vikings: Season 4 Character Catch-Up – Rollo | History
Get caught up with Rollo’s journey so far in Season 4 with Clive Standen in this web exclusive.
“Lothbrok (Lodbrok)” is an epithet, not a surname. It means “shaggy-breaches.” Ragnar’s brother wouldn’t share it.
The historical Rollo was occasionally given the epithet “the Walker,” reportedly because he was so big no horse could carry him. (Horses in northern Europe were a lot smaller then.)
