Monday night on Supergirl, Tuesday night on The Flash, and last night on Arrow‘s 100th episode, The CW and the Guggenheim/Berlanti/Kreisberg empire brought us the first 3 episodes of the most ambitious crossover yet. Concluding tonight on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the heroes and legends are trying to stop the Dominators, a creepy alien race bent on destroying Earth. After Barry Allen and Cisco (Grant Gustin, Carlos Valdes) reached out to Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) for help, Team Arrow, Team Flash, and the Legends joined forces to fight them. Some had been mind-controlled to attack each other, but good prevailed, some were kidnapped and put in a happy stasis dream state and then rescued. What happened tonight? Read on!

Spoilers below.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow 2.7 “Invasion!” review: The idea is to go back in time and steal a Dominator for intel. Oliver (Stephen Amell) wants to minimize Supergirl’s involvement. He is hanging on to normal by a thread. She is not happy. Barry is funny. He didn’t think she ever got angry. Cisco and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) are geeking out on the Waverider.

Felicity: “This ship is…”

Cisco: “Automatic.”

Felicity: “Supersonic.”

Cisco: “Hypnotic.”

Felicity and Cisco: “Funky fresh.” I’m pushing for “Felisco” next.

Stein (Victor Garber) is trying to figure out how to defeat the dominators. His “daughter” comes to help. She talks about the past and he is understandably acting super weird with her. He plans on erasing her after all this is over, until they connect with the help of Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker). Stein wants to keep this abberation. And keep it a secret.

The Waverider heads to 1951. Felicity is puking and speaking in tongues. They get left on the ship while the Legends go to kidnap an alien. Nate (Nick Zano) uses Princess Bride against Cisco. He, Mick (Dominic Purcell), and Amara (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) find the battle and their chosen Dominator.

Felicity tries to talk to Cisco about forgiving Barry. He is dead set against it. Barry is not his friend.

Some suits happen by and dart the legends. Nate takes the opportunity to talk to the trussed up alien in the shared cell. It’s up to Felicity and Cisco to save the day. And they do.

Cisco: “Have you seen Stranger Things?” They certainly make an entrance.

Mick: “Saved by geeks.” Cisco wants to save the alien.

Old Suit comes and surrounds Barry, Oliver, Sarah, and Ray, but Barry disarms them. He says Barry has to give himself to the Dominators and then they will leave in peace. The alien corroborates the story from the phone Cisco took. Alien ships show up all over the world and in Central City.

Cisco – “I just wanted to make things right. We ended up making them worse.” Cue empathy.

Barry is giving himself up. We knew he would. The team not letting him go. And Mick is awesomely Mick.

The ship is opening up. And the biggest battle – Heroes v Aliens ensues and that is saying something on all of these shows. The action is indescribable. You just have to watch it.

The end has some cute bits:

– Ray says Kara looks like his cousin (haha! Superman!).

– There’s a Flash/Arrow/Supergirl group hug (Oliver with the eye roll pretending he doesn’t love it).

– Mick to Supergirl: “Hey skirt. Call me.” I’ll call you, Mick Rory.

– A vigilante and a speedster walk into a bar.

The creators, cast, and everyone were not kidding when they said this was ambitious insanity. But it worked. All of the episodes were incredible and the conclusion was better than any blockbuster movie. The DC Cinematic universe made a big mistake not grabbing these TV heroes because they make more compelling entertainment than the movie ones.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursdays at 8:00pm ET on The CW.

The CW’s synopsis:
