A teaser for a trailer campaign has been used many times before, so the practice isn’t going away any time soon. We saw that earlier today with Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Now Dwayne Johnson is announcing that the trailer for Baywatch is also debuting tomorrow, and he is telling us this via a trailer tease. Check it out below.
There really isn’t much to the trailer other than shots of oceans and waves, with the caption: “Tomorrow. The Ocean’s Most Powerful Force Will Emerge.” Then a shot of Johnson “emerging” from the depths of the ocean as he cradles a victim appears. And that’s it. The actor tweeted out the teaser earlier today, with a couple of extra hyping hashtags to get fans interested in a “Bad boy Rated-R version” of the cheesy lifeguard show that ran for 11 seasons. Oh, and that’s Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize” playing in the background. I mean, it is a bit hard to look away from all Johnson’s muscles.
Other than that, we’ll just have to wait for the full trailer.
It should be interesting to see what director Seth Gordon has in store for us. He is best known for his directing work on Horrible Bosses, King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, Identity Thief, and Freakonomics, as well as a few episodes of The Office, Parks and Recreation, and The Goldbergs.
The film also stars Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, Hannibal Buress, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Jon Bass, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, David Hasselhoff, and Pamela Anderson.
Here’s the official and very brief plot synopsis:
BAYWATCH follows devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson) as he butts heads with a brash new recruit (Zac Efron). Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.
Baywatch opens nationwide next year on May 19th, 2017.
