Fresh off the hit teaser trailer that was released yesterday, we are learning more about Denis Villeneuve‘s Blade Runner 2049 starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. The long-awaited sequel will hit theaters in the fall of next year, and it will be a while before we see another trailer.

However, if you’re itching for more goods from the upcoming sequel, then you are in luck. A handful of images of Gosling sporting a coat – that everyone will probably want – and word on an R-rating and a possible sequel have popped up online. Check out the latest news below.

Entertainment Weekly was the first to drop these new images plus an updated film synopsis:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Of course, that long-buried secret will probably stay that way until the release of the film. Though we will probably get a few more clues as to what it is about in subsequent trailers. And it’s not like any of these new images would provide us any context. One thing is for sure, though, Gosling always looks good in a jacket. As for the R-rating the director confirmed it would be for a mature audience to Screen Daily, and joked about the high cost of working on a pricey R-rated indie:

With the exception of Arrival, which was PG-13, Sicario, Enemy, and Prisoners were all R. While it hasn’t been confirmed, sources tell the trade that the reason for the R-rating may have had something to do with the success of Deadpool. However, that is just a rumor.

Regardless of the rating, it is really exciting to see Villeneuve’s take on the sci-fi genre. Because Blade Runner 2049 is his second consecutive sci-fi film, there is a possibility that he might return to it, at least based on what he said:

It’s not a solid answer, but it’s definitely an intriguing one.
