Last night, Warner Bros. dropped the final trailer for Wonder Woman during the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film is the title hero’s first standalone flick and centers on Diana Prince’s (Gal Gadot) first steps off Paradise Island to journey to the world of man where she aids Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) to stop a global conflict. Check out the final trailer here below.
The trailer first appeared on the official Wonder Woman Twitter account.
DCEU films have taken a pounding from critics, but loyal fans have stood by these films through and through. But Wonder Woman looks like one of those DCEU films that will finally get praise from a majority of critics. The set pieces look fantastic. The fact that the world is watching as she climbs that ladder and takes one step forward towards being one of the first female superheroes to get her own film is something exciting in this day and age. This period piece setting proves that it is the kind of stage that can still work. And we still haven’t seen what Ares looks like, yet. But we get confirmation that one of the characters in question is Dr. Posion (Elena Anaya).
One would hope that if the film is a huge success at the box office and receives high praise from critics that WB would give the greenlight for a sequel. And normally a studio would announce that one is in the works before a film is released. But nothing like that is happening, yet. It should be interesting to see what WB’s next move will be.
Wonder Woman also stars Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, and David Thewlis.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
