Last week on Supernatural, Tasha Banes (Alvina August), disappeared while on a case. Her daughter Alicia called Mary (Samantha Smith) to help, but Mary wasn’t answering, not even for her sons. Dean and Sam (Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki) freaked out about new Cass (Misha Collins), who now has faith in the Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) spawn, so they decided to help the twins to take their minds off it. A witch made Tasha and others her dolls. Mary was suspicious of Ketch (David Haydn-Jones) about Mick’s whereabouts. She followed a lead and found Mick’s dead body, so Ketch trapped her.

Spoilers below.

Supernatural 12.21 “There’s Something About Mary” review: A hellhound rips apart Eileen (Shoshannah Stern) at Ketch’s behest. Poor Sam. He is doomed to be unlucky in love. Seven hunters dead and Ketch is lying to the brothers (we know why). They get a letter from Eileen dated 4 days ago, saying she was being followed and bugged by the Men of Letters, and she needed a place to crash. So sad! They scoured their bunker and found their own bugs.

Crowley (Mark Sheppard) is hunting Kelly, and having fun rubbing it in Lucifer’s face.

He visits Hess (Gillian Barber), cementing their arrangement, lying to the boys. That makes me mad. He tries to make a deal with Lucifer to help him find his son so he can raise him as his own. That did not really work out too well with Amara, now did it, Crowley?

Mary is having dreams about killing hunters while trapped in the British bunker. She’s not sure what’s real. Lady Bevell (Elizabeth Blackmore) and the BMOL are brainwashing her so she thinks like them. Mary is devastated. “I believed in what you people were doing.” She tries to get the best of Ketch, but fails. She cries and begs him to kill her, since her will and her family is all she has. Ketch has tears in his eyes and so do I. More than tears. This scene had me sobbing. Oh, you are good, Smith.

Sam and Dean get the best of 2 of the soldiers, and then overtake Bevell, but not before she gives Dean a good kick. “You keep that up, we’re gonna have to start dating.” I love you! I’ll date you! Bevell tells them about Mary and Ketch sleeping together (you can imagine how they take that), and how all the American hunters are and would be dead.

Somehow, the power between Lucifer and Crowley is reversing. I love this scene between them with Crowley as his muppet (there’s hopping). But then he kills Crowley! They drag his body away. Lucifer goes and stands on a beautiful mountaintop.

Sam and Dean (and prisoner Bevell) go back to the bunker where Ketch and his lackeys are waiting. Sam and Dean get the better of them, but then brainwashed Mary tells her sons to stand down. Ketch locks Lady Bevell in with the Winchesters and seal them in. Their bunker is now a tomb.

Ketch seems worried about Mary. Mary says she’s fine.

I don’t want Supernatural without Crowley. I know that death is a part of the show, but Crowley? He’s important.

I cried and laughed and gasped and got really nervous, all in this one episode. It is brilliant that the BMOL is the Big Bad this season, secondary to Lucifer and his spawn! Supernatural was renewed so I know the boys won’t die, but what a dilemma. So good!

Supernatural airs on Thursday nights at 8:00pm ET on The CW.

  3. Crowley is not dead. There was no orange flashout that accompanies demon death. However, I am mad at him for helping to kill Eileen.
