At the end of season 1 of AMC’s hit series Preacher, the sign outside the Annville, Texas church read “Today: Meet God, Tomorrow: TBD.” Well, the “to be determined” part was incredibly accurate… Annville blew up… ALL OF IT! Luckily, that was behind the dust of the car carrying the trio of Preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Oscar nominee Ruth Negga), and drunk Irish vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun). They are on the search for God… no literally, God is missing. Jesse is possessed by Genesis, a half demon half angel force that allows him to control anyone. Oh and yeah, there’s a cowboy from Hell chasing him. Ok, I think we’re caught up.

The series based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s graphic novel returns for its sophomore season later this month. The cowboy (Graham McTavish) is still out for him, shown here shoving a man with one arm ripped off through a vending machine and appearing seemingly unstoppable. From the trailer is appears that Cassidy of all people is the voice of reason! As much as Cass is drunk on vices, Jesse is drunk on power, flaunting Genesis to make people do his bidding. The three of them punch, kick, shoot, and blast through New Orleans in the 90-second trailer to the tune of “We’ve Got the Beat” by the Go-Gos. The only other survivor of Annville to appear in the trailer is Arseface (Ian Colletti). who was sent to Hell by Jesse thanks to the literal nature of Genesis.
The second season premiere of Preacher is done completely by the three developers; co-directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen and written by Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad). Preacher’s special brand of R-rated humor and psycho-sexual lunacy returns on Sunday night, June 25th on AMC. Catch up on season 1 now, with episodes available on Amazon.
