Once upon a time, a long, long time ago in the year 2011, we found out that Source Code writer Ben Ripley had been hired to pen the screenplay for a remake of the 1990 thriller Flatliners.
That remake would eventually become a sequel, with original star Kiefer Sutherland joining the cast to reprise his role. And now a trailer for the movie, which stars Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, and Kiersey Clemons, has been released online.
You can learn a little bit more about the movie and check out the trailer below.
DESCRIPTION:
In Flatliners, five medical students, obsessed by the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring and dangerous experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience – giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife. But as their experiments become increasingly dangerous, they are each haunted by the sins of their pasts, brought on by the paranormal consequences of trespassing to the other side.
The Flatliners sequel is directed by Niels Arden Oplev, who’s best known for the original Swedish film adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo starring Noomi Rapace. It will be released in theaters on September 29th of this year.
Now…we just need to figure out why a sequel to the 1990 movie has the exact same title as the 1990 movie. Is that a first? Anyone? Bueller?
