Telltale Games has made many of their fans happy today, finally announcing The Wolf Among Us season two.

The game is based on Bill Willingham’s incredible comic series Fables. And while the first season was not the most successful financial endeavor for Telltale, it was without doubt one of their very best—right up there with the acclaimed first season of The Walking Dead, which came out about a year before. But when it comes down to it, sales matter. So while two more seasons and some DLC for The Walking Dead have since been released, it looked like we may never get a second season of The Wolf Among Us.

The announcement was made with a video, which begins with voice actors and Telltale employees reading mean tweets from impatient fans demanding a new season. You can check it out below.

Here’s some info on The Wolf Among Us—or at least the first season. It’s not clear where the story will take us for season two, or if we’ll again play as Bigby Wolf. But considering the voice actors for Bigby, Adam Harrington, and Snow, Erin Yvette, are part of the video below, there’s a good chance it’ll involve the same characters.

The Wolf Among Us is a five episode series from the creators of the 2012 Game of the Year: The Walking Dead. Based on Fables (DC Comics/Vertigo), an award-winning comic book series, it is an often violent, mature and hard-boiled thriller where the characters and creatures of myth, lore and legend are real and exist in our world.

As Bigby Wolf – THE big bad wolf in human form – you will discover that the brutal, bloody murder of a Fable is just a taste of things to come, in a game series where your every decision can have enormous consequences.

• Your choices matter: it’s not only WHAT you choose to do that will affect how your story plays out, but WHEN you choose to do it.
• A mature and gritty take on characters from fairytales, legends and folklore who have escaped into our world. These are not the characters you’d see on a little child’s lunchbox.
• Play as Bigby Wolf: formerly the most feared monster among the Fables, now Sheriff of Fabletown and protector of those he used to hunt. He must restrain the beast within if he is to earn the trust of those around him.
• Choose Bigby’s actions carefully. Will you approach a situation calmly or unleash your inner rage? The way you act will determine how others respond to you.
• Set before the events seen in the first issue of the comics – you don’t have to know the characters or the world to play!

I’ve spent many a night dreaming about seeing Willingham’s Fables brought to life, preferably in a TV series somewhere like HBO or Netflix where there’s little restriction. There is a movie in the works that’s been in development for a while now, but I doubt I’m alone in thinking it’d be so much better as a TV series.

But until that happens, Telltale gives us an opportunity to dive into that world with their video game adaptation. And now knowing a second season is on the way, I am giddy with excitement.

The Wolf Among Us season two will arrive sometime in 2018.
