Warner Bros. has just dropped the latest trailer for 12 Strong, the true story of a small group of military soldiers who were sent off to Afghanistan to develop an uneasy relationship with the Northern Alliance to take down the dangerous Taliban.
The film stars Chris Hemsworth and Michael Shannon. Check it out below.
While the current climate is getting more divisive as the days go on, it is comforting to know we can look back on inspirational stories. Especially one that looks back on the bonds that were created with an uneasy ally at the start of war. And to make thing even more difficult the team is outmanned, outgunned, and will be conducting these raids while on horseback, of all things. But that doesn’t make their story any less inspirational. And considering that this trailer was released one day before Thanksgiving, it is giving us more of a reason to be thankful this year.
12 Strong also stars Michael Peña (Ant-Man), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Navid Negahban (Aladdin),Geoff Stults (Only the Brave), Thad Luckinbill (The Young and the Restless), Austin Stowell (Bridge of Spies), Ben O’Toole (Hacksaw Ridge), Austin Hebert (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back), Kenneth Miller (Whiskey Tango Fotxtrot), Kenny Sheard (13 Hours), and Jack Kesy (The Strain). The film also features the talents of Laith Nakli (24: Legacy), Fahim Fazli (American Sniper), Yousuf Azami (Lone Survivor), Said Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman), Elsa Pataky (Fast & Furious films), William Fichtner (Black Hawk Down), and Rob Riggle (The Hangover).
Here’s the official synopsis for 12 Strong:
In the wake of Sept. 11, Capt. Mitch Nelson leads a U.S. Special Forces team into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission. Once there, the soldiers develop an uneasy partnership with the Northern Alliance to take down the Taliban and its al-Qaida allies. Outgunned and outnumbered, Nelson and his forces face overwhelming odds in a fight against a ruthless enemy that takes no prisoners.
Nicolai Fuglsig directed the film, which is produced by legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Oscar winner Ted Tally and Peter Craig wrote the screenplay, based on the acclaimed book by best-selling author Doug Stanton.
