Back in November we saw the first teaser trailer for A Quiet Place, an upcoming horror movie written by, directed by, and starring John Krasinski (The Office, 13 Hours). Then we saw a Super Bowl TV spot and interview with Krasinski earlier this month.
Now Paramount Pictures has released an official trailer for the film, which also stars Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe. The story involves a family who is forced to live in a secluded area and in complete silence in order to avoid attracting the attention of a mysterious danger, which thrives on any sounds someone might make.
Continue below to check out the official trailer.
Co-writing the screenplay with Krasinski is Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.
Now, as I said back in November with the first trailer, it’s hard not to think about whether or not anything coming out of Paramount is connected to the Cloverfield universe.
I have trouble believing that just after Paramount sent God Particle, now known as The Cloverfield Paradox, to Netflix for immediate release, and with Overlord on the way, there would be yet another new Cloverfield movie sneaking up on us here. And on top of that, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot doesn’t appear to be involved with the project. At least not that we currently know about. In fact, it’s actually a production of Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, which would seemingly jam a wrench right into the theory gears.
But still, I can’t be the only one getting major vibes here. Especially at the beginning of this new trailer where we see and hear things like “fighting a massive invasion,” and major power outages due to magnetic pulses, and “we can no longer protect you,” and impenetrable enemy armor, and hundreds of thousands dead in Shanghai. Whatever is going on here, it’s a global event and does not appear to be caused by humans.
Only time will tell if it’s somehow connected, or if it’s its own unique story. But one thing is for sure: it’s all extremely intriguing, one way or the other.
A Quiet Place will open in theaters on April 6, 2018.
