Stephen Amell is no stranger to the world of professional wrestling. Back in the summer of 2015, Amell made a TV appearance on the WWE’s Monday Night Raw show and was harassed by Cody Rhodes playing his Stardust character. This led to the Arrow star wrestling his first match, a tag team encounter with WWE star Neville against Stardust and King Wade Barrett at SummerSlam. Now almost three years later, Amell is ready for his first singles wrestling match ever, at an event co-created by his old nemesis”¦ Cody Rhodes.
Amell and Cody Runnels (his real last name) worked a wonderful piece of cross-promotion as Cody joined the cast of Arrow in season 5 as villain Derek Sampson. The son of legendary wrestler “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, Cody along with his faction mates Nick and Matt Jackson known as The Young Bucks promoted one of if not the largest independent wrestling show of all time dubbed All In, which emanates from the sold-out Sears Centre in Chicago on September 1st. The event sold out in less than half an hour, selling 10,000 tickets and bringing in wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling, and more.
Amell wrestled alongside Cody, the Jacksons, and their Bullet Club stablemates back in November of 2017. In the match, Amell was put through a table by ROH stalwart and former ROH Champion Christopher Daniels. Daniels is perhaps the most well known independent wrestler to never feature in WWE. On September 1st, Amell will wrestle Daniels in his very first one-on-one match! Amell’s former opponent and Arrow co-star, Cody will be challenging Nick Aldis for the NWA World Title. The event will kick off with a one-hour pre-show on WGN America called All In: Zero Hour starting at 6:00 ET before All In begins at 7:00 ET. All In is available on all major pay-per-view providers as well as FITE, a streaming service for wrestling, boxing, and MMA events.
After Stephen Amell goes All In, you can see him back at his “day-job” as Oliver Queen aka The Green Arrow, the lynchpin of the DC’s Arrow-verse on the CW. Arrow season 7 premieres on Monday night, October 15, 2018.
