For New York Comic-Con 2018, Amazon Prime Video released the first teaser for The Boys from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Pineapple Express, This Is the End).
The series, like Rogen and Goldberg’s Preacher, is a comic book adaptation. It’s based on the comic of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which tells the story of a group of vigilantes who are on a mission to deal with out of line superheroes.
Continue below for an official synopsis, more info on the show, and to check out the teaser.
SYNOPSIS:
In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, THE BOYS centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as “The Boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. THE BOYS is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes. THE BOYS is scheduled for a 2019 release.
The cast for the show includes Karl Urban, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, Antony Starr, Nathan Mitchell, Dominique McElligott, Erin Moriarty, Jack Quaid, and Karen Fukuhara.
Eric Kripke, the creator of Supernatural, Timeless, and Revolution and the screenwriter of The House with a Clock in Its Walls, is writer, producer, and showrunner.
As we found out back in May, Dan Trachtenberg directed the first episode of The Boys, which will kick things off with an eight-episode first season.
