Nothing says romantic like threatening to eat someone’s arms, legs, and face off, and watch their body roll down the street like a turd in the wind. And if that is how you attract someone, who am I to stop them. But just in case you feel that is a bit too aggressive, then you might consider adding Venom to your Blu-ray collection. That’s right, the film that brought back the word turd will be available to own this December on digital, 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD.
The Sony Home Entertainment team is making sure that you will give this to your loved one with a trailer that turns the superhero film starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Riz Ahmed into a romance. Check it out, below.
Now, I’ll be honest. Venom wasn’t my favorite film of the year. But it wasn’t the worst either. The film had very little to work with considering the character’s connection to Spider-Man. And with a large amount of the characters belonging to the MCU, the studio and director Ruben Fleischer had to create their own mythology for the big screen treatment. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as dark and gritty as promised – or maybe I just set my expectations too high. But it was enough of a commercial success – $822 million in theaters worldwide to date – to get the ball rolling on other Spider-Man related projects.
So instead of just releasing another generic trailer for the Blu-ray, the Sony Home Entertainment marketing team put a spin on the film’s home video trailer by selling it as a romantic film. I can’t be completely sure it will have everyone sold, but you have to give credit to the team for having fun with the film’s lunacy. I mean, having a symbiote make out with a human host, that just makes you want to give a deep sigh.
