Frozen 2

Walt Disney Animation Studios has released the first teaser for Frozen 2, the sequel to the wildly popular and successful Frozen.

Though we don’t know much about it now, it looks like Arendelle princesses Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel), along with the gruff mountaineer Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), his loyal reindeer steed Sven, and that adorable sentient snowman Olaf (Josh Gad) are back in an all-new adventure that takes them out of their kingdom and across the ocean to a new wondrous land. Check out the newest trailer and another image below.

While the trailer doesn’t offer much in terms of plot, there is a lot to get into. First and foremost, we see Elsa trying to walk from the beach to the ocean. Not an easy task when waves are crashing down. But her persistence seems to pay off as she successfully walks on water, dives straight through a wave, and jumps from a rock bearing to freeze another wave. Although, there appears to be one wave that is too big for even her to handle. That sequence alone will probably look incredible on the big screen.

From there a distraught Anna walks onto a balcony, surrounded by floating diamonds. What these things are and how they are floating is unclear. But there appears to be a lot of them as the camera pulls away to reveal that they are surrounding her castle. And if you look closely, you may see that the design patterns in those diamonds looks similar to that in the Frozen 2 snowflake poster:

In another shot, we see Kristoff riding on Sven, alongside other reindeer. Though the mountaineer is an ice collector, he seems to be in warmer climates.

We then switch back to Anna, who appears to be very alone and scared on what appears to be the same beach that Elsa was on in the first shot of the trailer. But she musters up the courage to climb a mountain and leap off of a cliff to get to the other side of another mountain.

After that, there’s a shot of Elsa protecting Olaf by trying to extinguish the purple inferno that surrounds them.

It then transitions to our first look at the newest unnamed character. Who traces a gust of wind that leads to a rock formation.

Finally, a heroic shot of Olaf, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Sven looking at the horizon of this new land they are in. What is this place and what drew them here?

Directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, and producer Peter Del Vecho are keeping the plot for Frozen 2 a secret, at least for now. But by the looks of things, the Frozen crew aren’t in Arendelle anymore.

Featuring the music of Oscar-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, Disney’s Frozen 2 will be released in theaters on November 2, 2019.
