Netflix has ordered a new series titled Medical Police, which is described as an “action-packed thriller, mystery, and love story.”
The show, which will star Erinn Hayes and Rob Huebel, comes from the makers of the Adult Swim comedy Childrens Hospital, which also starred Hayes and Huebel. It follows a pair of doctors helping to find the cure for a deadly virus.
Here’s an official description of Medical Police from Netflix:
Two American physicians (Erinn Hayes and Rob Huebel) stationed at a pediatric hospital in São Paulo, Brazil, discover a civilization-threatening virus and are recruited as government agents in a race against time and around the world to find a cure and uncover a dark conspiracy.
Joining Hayes and Huebel on the cast is Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Rob Corddry, and Ken Marino, who will all appear in recurring guest roles. Like the two stars, Akerman, Bell, Corddry, and Marino all also starred in Childrens Hospital.
Corddry, Krister Johnson, Jonathan Stern, and David Wain will all write and executive produce Medical Police, while Wain and Bill Benz will direct episodes of the series.
Childrens Hospital was created by Corddry, Wain, and Stern. Corddry and Wain wrote, directed, executive produced, and starred in episodes of the show, while Stern wrote and executive produced, and also appeared in one episode.
Netflix has made an initial order of 10 episodes for Medical Police, with each running 30 minutes long. No release window for the series has been announced yet.
