Horror remakes can be very hit or miss. But whether you support them or loathe them on principle, they usually are guaranteed to pop a buyrate at the box office. The latest classic horror film to receive the remake treatment is Child’s Play, due out this June from director Lars Klevberg with a script from Tyler Burton Smith.
Check out the first look at the new Chucky and the first trailer for the Child’s Play reboot here below.
Many were suspicious about this updated version from Orion Pictures, especially since the original series that started back in 1988 was still going strong. Chucky creator Don Mancini had written and directed the last sequels in 2013 & 2017 with the OG Chucky Brad Dourif providing the voice acting. However, the reveal of Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky has converted some skeptics. Along with Hamill, the new film stars Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, Tim Matheson, and Brian Tyree Henry.
Produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, Child’s Play opens in theaters everywhere on June 21, 2019.
A contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic, Child’s Play follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.
Child’s Play is directed by Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith and produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions (It, It: Chapter Two).
