Crawl Movie

An official trailer has been released for Crawl, an upcoming thriller from Paramount Pictures.

SYNOPSIS:

When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.

From director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) and producers Craig Flores (300), Sam Raimi (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead) and Alexandre Aja, Crawl is a nail-biting horror thriller in theatres July 12, 2019.

Scodelario has starred in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the Maze Runner series, and Skins. She can also be seen in the Ted Bundy movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, which arrived on Netflix today.

Pepper is best known for his roles in Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile, and the Coen brothers’ 2010 remake of True Grit. He has worked with Scodelario in the past, appearing in a pair of the Maze Runner movies.

In addition to The Hills Have Eyes, Aja has also directed Mirrors, Piranha 3D, Horns, and The 9th Life of Louis Drax.

The screenplay was written by Shawn Rasmussen and Michael Rasmussen, who previously penned John Carpenter’s The Ward, Dark Feed, and The Inhabitants.

Obviously the premise of Crawl is a bit ridiculous, but hopefully it will be fun. It reminds me of a 2012 movie about a group people trapped in a supermarket with sharks titled Bait, which entertained me far more than I expected it to, and the episode of American Dad! titled “Hurricane!” Both pretty absurd, both fun.
