We are only a few weeks away from the launch of Disney+, Disney’s exclusive streaming service that will be home to over 6,000 hours worth of original and existing content. But as if all the films and TV series wasn’t enough, we can expect to see some documentaries as well. At the International Documentary Association showcase event, Disney+ revealed that they are currently developing new documentaries onMarvel, Disney lyricist Howard Ashman, acclaimed chef Wolfgang Puck, and more. Check out more on the report below.

THR was on hand to report on Disney+’s nonfiction slate. According to them, an untitled Mickey Mouse documentary from Won’t You Be My Neighbor? producer Morgan Neville and director Jeff Malmberg is in the works and will be seen, exclusively, on the streaming service. Disney+ has also acquired the rights to Howard, a documentary centering on Disney lyricist Howard Ashman “” who was behind Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid. It is directed by Beauty and the Beast producer Don Hahn.

Both projects are slated to debut sometime in 2020.

Other documentaries include People & Places, which will follow the real-life stories of extraordinary people. Wolfgang, will follow the life and work of famed chef Wolfgang Puck.

Meanwhile, Marvel confirmed that Gillian Jacobs (Love, Community) and Paul Scheer (The League, Black Monday) will each direct an episode of their new anthological docu-series, Marvel 616. The docuseries will explore “the intersection between Marvel’s rich legacy of stories, characters, and creators and the world outside your window. Told through the lens of a diverse group of filmmakers, each documentary will dive into the rich historical, cultural and societal context that has become inseparable from stories of the Marvel Universe.”

Jacobs will direct “Higher, Further, Faster,” which will shine a light on the trailblazing women of Marvel Comics and explore how they found ways to tell stories of representation and inclusion. Scheer, David Gelb, and Andrew Rossi, among others, will helm additional episodes of the series. These episodes will focus on a range of topics including an intimate look at the cosplay community, Marvel’s influence and relationship with hip-hop, illustrators who live and work internationally, and follow a high school theater production of Marvel and Disney’s “Spotlight” program.

Marvel 616 will debut sometime in 2020.

Disney’s other original nonfiction series includes The World According to Jeff Goldblum, Marvel’s Hero Project, The Imagineering Story, and the Kristen Bell-hosted reality series, Encore.

Disney+ is set to launch on November 12, 2019.
