Just when I thought the vapor ware watch was over, Duke Nukem Forever is actually going to be released!
Announced Friday at PAX (Penny Arcade Expo), Duke Nukem Forever will be released in calendar year 2011 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and the PC. The game has been switched to game developer Gearbox, makers of the game Borderlands. The new Duke Nukem had been in development hell since first being announced in 1997, which for those bad at math was a long time ago. The original developer 3D Realms was sued over the LONG development period for the game, which never came out. Gearbox now flat out owns the Duke Nukem IP, so they are free to make lots of other Duke games, should Forever sell well.

A Spartan Will Rise In This New ‘Halo: Reach’ Trailer

Halo: Reach is a little less than a month away, and I couldn’t be more excited. It is looking like developer Bungie is really going to go out with a bang with their last Halo game. Released today is a new trailer entitled ‘A Spartan Will Rise.” In the trailer you meet all six members of Team Noble, the group of Spartans from the game. Good concept for a trailer that gets you better acquainted with the cast, but what is up with the voice over? Very Lord of the Rings which I excused when it was used for Gears of War 2 a few years ago, but come on! You have to be able to come up with a different voice over than an elfish sounding lady. Anyway, elf rip off aside, it’s a decent trailer and only goes to help build excitement for the new Halo game. You can see the new trailer below now!

BioWare Strikes Again With Excellent First ‘Dragon Age 2’ Cinematic Trailer

We reported a while back that Dragon Age II is coming. Today we have the first trailer. Now the trailer is very good looking, however, it is not game play, and you know my thoughts on giving judgment on a game’s look before I see game play. My biggest gripe so far about this game is it’s name. Dragon Age II seems to have nothing to do with Dragon Age: Origins, nothing at all. I guess I can kind of see naming it Dragon Age since the name is recognizable and the game did well, but people who bought the first game could be disappointed if they buy the sequel and expect the same experience, because they aren’t getting it. One main character to choose from, less choice in the type of character you will play, these are fundamental changes to the game, I feel it makes it not really a sequel but a different game set in the same universe. much like Halo Wars is set in the Halo universe but couldn’t be called Halo 4. You can see the trailer below.

Is That Mark Hamill In The Deleted ‘Return Of The Jedi’ Scene?
By Merkader

Over the weekend at Star Wars Celebration V, George Lucas showed the attendees a never-before-seen clip from Return Of The Jedi that shows Luke Skywalker constructing his lightsaber [read Watch Now: Deleted Lightsaber Scene From “˜Return Of The Jedi’].
According to a video interview below that Original Prop Blog did at last year’s Comic-Con, Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy, remembers shooting no such scene. Hamill does go on to say that it doesn’t mean the clip wasn’t shot for Return Of The Jedi, after all, he wasn’t in the scene where Luke’s hand is being repaired either. So, there’s a chance that it’s not Mark Hamill in this newly revealed lightsaber scene. Well this makes the missing scene a little less awesome.

Does The World Need Another MMO?
By Merkader

There are a slew of new MMOs [massive multiplayer online game] on the way. Many of them are based on big time franchises: DC Universe Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Star Trek Online come to mind. I even hear there is a MMO that takes place in the Fallout universe in the works. Every thing I’ve seen for all these games, as it was with MMOs that came before them like Lord of The Rings Online, look great. Good graphics, strong game play, historic franchise, they all look like real winners, real money makers, but that usually isn’t the case.
The question isn’t what would make a good MMO, but do we really need another MMO? The Marvel MMO never got off the ground because there is only one really successful MMO out there, and we all know what that is. Many others are moving to a free to play, micro transaction model, since the subscription model in most cases isn’t working. Just look at Dungeons and Dragons Online, and Lord of The Rings Online and even the game that really started it all EverQuest is going free to play. I’m not saying that these games can’t be successful, but the odds are not in their favor.
