Letters by Simon Bowland
Covers by Francesco Francavilla
Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: May 7, 2014
Cover Price: $3.99 The Lone Ranger #24 proves why this comic book series is the BEST western book out there, bar none. If you’re interested in the character of the Lone Ranger or have a fondness for the western genre at all, you need to pick this book up. Twenty-four issues in and Ande Parks proves that he’s still got it. In fact, he’s always had it, and never lost it. This issue is almost like Die Hard on a train, except better (sorry Under Siege 2). It’s filled with action and suspense and there’s a mystery going on that is partly revealed, and most of all, it’s what a Lone Ranger comic should be.

Cover Price: $3.99 Star Trek #32 continues the adaptation of the classic Star Trek series episode, “I Enterprise,” updated to fit into the new Star Trek continuity! For this issue, writer Mike Johnson does a great job at wrapping up “I Enterprise.” We get some new spins and a couple of surprises, but what we get most of this issue is some GREAT character development. We all know who Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are, but things have changed a little in this new universe, and with it, so have those characters. We get to know a little bit more about them through the conflicts that they go through in this issue. And, it’s a surprisingly nice change of pace. This is a fantastically written installment by Johnson, who has been a bright spot in this series.

Magnus Robot Fighter #2
Written by Fred Van Lente
Art by Corey Smith
Colors by Mauricio Wallace
Letters by Marshall Dillion
Covers by Gabriel Hardman, Jonathon Case, Emanuela Lupacchino, Stephen Sevogia, and Ken Haeser
Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: April 9, 2014
Cover Price: $3.99 In my opinion, Magnus Robot Fighter #2 wasn’t as awesome as the first issue, making it just plain awesome instead of SUPER awesome. Writer Fred Van Lente uses this issue mostly for world building purposes. Previously, we met Will Magnus, got to know him a little bit, and then he was whisked away to a whole different world where his job was to fight robots. In this issue, we find out more about that world, how it works, what the rules are, and why Magnus is deemed a pretty big threat by this society. In keeping with the spirit of the first issue, Van Lente includes TONS of action and some great bits of story, all the while slipping in bits and pieces of how this world functions, what the class sects are, and some general basic knowledge of what this world is about. All of these things, woven into a really smooth flowing story.
