New York Comic-Con caters to those of every genre of geekdom. Horror fans were not left out this year as Joe Bob Briggs, Greg Nicotero, and Sam Zimmerman were there Thursday to represent Shudder at their panel previewing upcoming shows on the streaming service. Horror fans have known the name Joe Bob Briggs for many years. I first encountered him while watching cable TV at my grandparents’ house on the Briggs-hosted MonsterVision on TNT, after a run on The Movie Channel. Specializing in exploitation and B-level horror films and using his infamous rating system of “Drive-in Totals” (Blood, Breasts, and Beasts), Briggs became a staple with horror fans anywhere. Earlier this year, Shudder and parent company AMC brought him back to do one last all-nighter, “Joe Bob’s Last Drive-In.” The event was so popular it literally broke Shudder and after going viral, Briggs was asked back for more specials later this year. We had a chance to speak with Briggs at NYCC on Thursday afternoon during a press roundtable.

For the third straight year, New York Comic-Con welcomed the cast of Stan Against Evil. Season 3 debuts on Halloween night on IFC and Stan Miller himself, John C. McGinley, was at NYCC Thursday along with co-star Janet Varney and show creator Dana Gould. McGinley is a veteran of the big and small screens with over 100 credits on IMDb, including blockbuster films like Se7en and Platoon and starring roles like Dr. Cox on Scrubs for nine seasons. Stan Miller is a curmudgeonly widower dealing with the loss of his wife, raising a “unique” daughter (Deborah Baker Jr.) and battling a demonic curse out to kill him in Willard’s Mill, New Hampshire. We got a chance to talk to the star Thursday afternoon about the upcoming season, his character, and career.

Just like walking through the stones, fans went back in time by stepping into the Fraser’s Ridge Outlander cabin outside the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in NYC at New York Comic-Con 2018. STARZ brought to life historic details from colonial America by working with local artisans and brands to create an authentic three-sided version of Jamie and Claire Fraser’s cabin from the upcoming season of Outlander (and also as described in Diana Gabaldon‘s novel, Drums of Autumn).

One of the most anticipated panels at New York Comic-Con was Friday afternoon at the Hammerstein Ballroom with Neil Gaiman and the cast of STARZ’s American Gods. American Gods is based on the award-winning 2001 novel by Gaiman, who serves as both writer and executive producer for the show. With season 2 wrapped and all waiting patiently for an announcement of exactly when it will return to STARZ, the cast joined us at NYCC for a press roundtable at the Jacob Javits Convention Center to discuss their characters and the future of the series.
