Guess who’s back?! Quickly following up on the success of his former Kickstarter campaign (seen here), Brian Pulido is ready to publish another Lady Death graphic novel! And not only is Pulido’s new graphic novel, Lady Death: Damnation Game already funded, but it’s quickly outpacing the last one. It’s an amazing time in the comic industry when any one of us can be directly involved in helping creators get their projects printed! The fact that it’s Lady Death doesn’t hurt at all. When Brian Pulido contacted me, I was over the top excited. When he agreed to answer some questions for this Kickstarter Spotlight I almost literally jumped up and down with glee! I have been a fan of his Chaos! Comics characters since the nineties and it is nice to see him back in action with his iconic anti-heroine. As one of the original “bad girls” of the comics from her era, Lady Death has enjoyed widespread fame over the last two decades. But enough of the history, let’s talk about the current fundraising campaign!

| SDCC 2015: First Trailer For ‘Firefly’-Inspired ‘Con Man’ From Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion |

We may never see Firefly live and breathe again (unless someone finally wakes up and finds a way to makes it happen for us), but while die hard fans of the series continue to hopelessly wait for that day to arrive something else inspired by Joss Whedon‘s show has been born. Back in March we found out about Con Man, a web series from Firefly co-stars Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion. Mirroring their previous gig working together, the web series follows actors from a canceled (far too soon) science fiction TV show. The actor who playued the captain on the show (Fillion) goes on to become a big movie star, while the actor who played the pilot (Tudyk) finds himself traveling around making appearances and sci-fi conventions. A trailer for Con Man was shared during their panel at San Diego Comic-Con—the first web series to have a Hall H panel—and now the trailer is available to enjoy online. You can see it below along with a poster and full synopsis that includes the cast of very familiar names you’ll see in the series.

| Kickstarter Spotlight: ‘Second Nature,’ A Unique Gender Role Reversal Comedy |

Body-swapping comedies have been around for decades (case in point: Vice Versa, The Change-Up, Dream a Little Dream, etc.), but filmmaker Michael Cross, a graduate of the prestigious USC School of Cinematic Arts – the alma mater of Hollywood heavyweights such as Ron Howard and John Singleton – has an imaginative take on the genre in which instead of the lead characters swapping bodies, gender roles are reversed. He would like to turn this idea into a feature film, and he needs your help to make it happen! Cross, a longtime director and editor of short films and commercials, is preparing to make his feature directorial debut with the comedy Second Nature, and he has opened a Kickstarter campaign to raise the $55,000 he requires to get it made. So far, the campaign has raised over $8,000 with a little over three weeks left to go. Continue below for more on the movie and to watch the Kickstarter video.

| ‘Empire Strikes Back’ Short ‘Black Angel’ To Become A Feature
Last month we shared the short film Black Angel, which was made by Star Wars and Alien Academy Award winner and nominee Roger Christian. The short was chosen by George Lucas to play before his sequel The Empire Strikes Back, and then was lost for three decades before resurfacing recently and being restored. When the short was shared Christian mentioned an exciting announcement coming at the start of this month, and, as expected, that announcement is that he wants to make a feature-length version of Black Angel. And to do so, he’s turning to crowdfunding for fan support. He even already has some cast in place, which includes the great John Rhys-Davies and Rutger Hauer. You can read more about the project and see a video of Christian talking about the project below.

| Kickstarter Spotlight: Dennis Hopper’s Final Film, ‘The Last Film Festival’ |

Almost five years ago now, Dennis Hopper passed away at the age of 74 after a lengthy battle with cancer. But before Hopper departed, he made one final film, an indie flick titled The Last Film Festival, in which he plays a Hollywood producer trying to get his latest flop of a movie into any film festival that will accept it…which as it turns out is only one. The movie has already been filmed for the most part, but production ended when Hopper died, just before his role was set to wrap up. For the fifth anniversary of his passing director Linda Yellen wants to finish and release the movie this year, but some additional funding is required to make it happen. To get the movie completed a Kickstarter campaign was created to include Hopper’s fans and avoid certain obstacles. You can read more about how Hopper came to be involved in the project, what the movie is about, why your help is needed, and also watch the Kickstarter video below.
