H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu stories have had a profound effect on a multitude of people for almost a century. They have inspired any number of books, games, and toys that continues on to this very day. As a matter of fact, I sit here with a Pop! figurine of Cthulhu on my desk inspiring me as I write this article! And having said that, I am proud to be able to present to you a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for Beyond Lovecraft, a wondrous graphic novel that stays true to the original tales by taking the reader to some unpredictable and desolate places via sequential art. Four stories, all tied together with a single theme. What more could you ask for, right? Well, how about Rob Moran providing all the art? That’s all it took to get me hooked. Well, that and he contacted me personally to let me know about it. I’ve been a fan for years, as his artwork is impeccable. He has a certain noir, macabre twist to much of his work that gives it far more depth than most artists can muster on their best days. He’s teamed up with writer Jasper Bark to create this amazing 96-page graphic novel for us.

Kickstarter is a great place to help launch projects and maybe even the careers of aspiring filmmakers. USC Film School Graduate Cody Lawrence is just one of those people, who is using the crowdfunding site to help kickstart his own career in the filmmaking business, and you can help fund his film by donating to his Kickstarting campaign for his independent short film Spectrographs and Soliloquies. Lawrence describes his film as a light sci-fier an astronomer who ignores the ones he loves because he is obsessed with an anomaly approaching Earth. As his life begins to fall apart he sets off to repair the damages to the relationships he holds dear. As with all Kickstarter campaigns, there are fun incentives if you help fund the project. Check out more on the film, info on some of the rewards, and the Kickstarter video below.

| Kickstarter Spotlight: ‘Our Friend Satan’ Graphic Novel By Dominik Marzec |

Our Friend Satan. I’m not going to lie to you, I was full of preconceived notions based solely on the title alone. As it turns out, I was pretty close on the expectation of it being a parody of everything we are taught/told/whatever in our formative years. In this story, Satan is effectively just the CEO of Hell, and he’s pretty damned tired of it. Constantly getting a bad rap, he’s scapegoated at every turn by the Catholic Church (not necessarily the good guys in this tale). And while the world at large has seen him portrayed as a monster with huge horns and a pitchfork, he’s actually a balding older gentleman who spends his days in a bathrobe and slippers, drinking copious amounts of Cthulhu Vodka with his buddy, and chess partner, Beelzebub. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg with this comic! Hilarity abounds in the most infernal of ways, you’ll never know what’s coming until it’s too late. That’ll teach those silly kids to summon up the Prince of Darkness!
