UPDATE: We’ve added several photos that we took at the Peavey booth during Preview Night to the image gallery below. \m/ Here’s a bit of news that’s right up this guitar-playing geek’s ally. Peavey Electronics has revealed a new line of licensed instruments and accessories at San Diego Comic-Con, with their sights squarely set on film geeks who also appreciate musical instruments. Based on the epic sci-fi film that spawned generations of geekdom, Star Wars, this new line will include offerings from their Rockmaster full-sized and three-quarter-sized electric guitars, half-size acoustic guitars, ukuleles, and several accessories. | This Radio Shack Super Bowl Ad Spot Is Filled With 1980s Icons (Video)
As usual with Super Bowl commercials, the ones that have aired during this year’s Big Game have not disappointed, but a standout for sure has to be the Radio Shack one, in which almost every single icon from the 1980s is represented in a quick montage after a Radio Shack store receives a phone call from, as the clerk, puts it, “The 1980s, who said they wanted their store back.” We won’t spoil the fun of what memorable visuals and icons are in the commercial, but pay close attention, some of them jump out at you and some you have to kind of squint to see them! Today Amazon.com has announced the release of four new models of their Kindle e-Reader: the all-new Kindle; the Kindle Touch; the Kindle Touch 3G; and the Kindle Fire. The Kindle is lighter, smaller, and faster than previous models with a weight less than 6 ounces. The E-Ink display is the most advanced yet and reads like actual paper. New features on the Kindle include built-in Wi-Fi, a book selection of more than 800,000 titles retailing for $9.99 or less, and a feature that allows you to borrow Kindle books from your local public library. The price for the new Kindle is $79.
