McDonald’s Might Actually Bring Back Szechuan Sauce After ‘Rick and Morty’ Season 3 Episode

Rick and Morty McDonald's Szechuan Sauce

Fans of Rick and Morty were treated to a massive surprise from Adult Swim and creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon on April Fools’ Day when the first episode of season three—the new season said fans have been waiting for since 2015—was aired without a single word being spoken of it before it began playing.

If you’ve seen the episode, you know that a particular McDonald’s McNugget sauce—seen above being enjoyed by Galactic Federation agent Cornvelious Daniel (voiced by Firefly and Castle star Nathan Fillion)—played a significant role in the episode. The sauce was a special Szechuan flavor created in 1998 to coincide with the release of the Disney animated movie Mulan, and after the movie had come and gone the sauce disappeared. It’s been nearly 20 years now, but the episode of Rick and Morty has made enough of a splash that even McDonald’s has taken notice, and it looks like there’s a chance the sauce could be revived.

Ravanello Super Mario Mushroom Maker

When it comes to kitchen gadgets, usually we buy them because they make something annoying much easier. Or claim to, anyway. But sometimes one comes along that might not be essential in your kitchen, but is a must-own anyway.

That’s where the Ravanello comes into the picture. This little tool isn’t necessarily a life-changer, but what it does do geeks everywhere will without question throw their hard earned coin at to own. The Ravanello takes your basic everyday radish, and transforms it into a mushroom. No, not an actual mushroom. That would be incredible, and cost a hell of a lot more. But it does make it look like a mushroom—more specifically, one of those oh so familiar mushrooms from the Super Mario video game series and its spinoffs.

Click on over to the other side for more and to see a video of how it works.

Must See: Tim Burton’s ‘Corpse Bride’ Cake (Video)

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride

Anyone who has watched some Food Network in their day has likely seen some kind of competition in which a variety of amazing cake creations are made. Zoe’s Fancy Cakes is someone who would likely do well in competitions such as those.

For this Halloween season, the cake maker’s YouTube channel has been sharing some fitting tutorial videos. One of the videos shows you how to make a cake version of the Bride from Tim Burton‘s stop-motion feature Corpse Bride. Though I’m going to go ahead and assume most mortal beings such as you and I would not fare well in trying to pull the cake off, as it is a truly impressive piece of work.

Video: Real Pee-Wee Herman Style Breakfast Machine

Pee-wee Herman Breakfast Machine

As a young child I always loved the beginning of Tim Burton’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure starring Paul Reubens as the Pee-wee Herman character he’s best known for playing—especially the part where his crazy Rube Goldberg contraption prepares his breakfast for him. I’m still fond of the movie overall to this very day, apart from a certain scene involving a certain sizeably nicknamed truck driver who scarred me for many years. No, I don’t wanna talk about it!

In the video you can check out below, a similar machine has been created that also prepares breakfast for you, just like Pee-wee’s…or for some of you perhaps closer to something you’ve seen in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Wallace and Gromit. It’s not nearly as elaborate or wacky as Pee-wee’s set up, but it does get the job done.

Breaking Bad Los Pollos Hermanos yellow design

Los Pollos Hermanos, the fictional fried chicken franchise with restaurants up and down the West Coast, most notably in Albuquerque, NM, which really acts as just a front for crystal meth trafficking for criminal kingpin Gus Fring on the program Breaking Bad, just might become a real thing.

Vince Gilligan, the creator and key figure behind the storied program, which ended its run in late Summer of 2013 after a dazzling six seasons, which netted universal acclaim, success, and a cachet of high profile awards, mentioned on Reddit that there was talk of “Los Pollos Hermanos becoming a real restaurant.” He also vaguely added that a businessman had contacted him who had an “interest” in bringing the franchise to reality.
