Doctor Who Themed Easter Eggs

It’s Easter Sunday, and by now, people all over the world have decorate eggs for the holiday and for the coming of Spring.

Over the years, the egg designs have gotten pretty intricate. An Etsy user allonsyalonso7 designed some Doctor Who-themed eggs, using such imagery as the TARDIS and suits with bowties. Check out the image here above.

Metallica Whiskey in the Jar

Any of you out there old enough to remember a time when Metallica proclaimed that they would never make music videos? That was a long time ago, back before they did their first video for the song “One” off their 1988 album …And Justice For All (and what an awesome video it was). Since then, they’ve made plenty more, some of which we probably could have done without (“Until It Sleeps”?).

For St. Patrick’s Day in 1999, Metallica released the music video for their cover of Irish rockers Thin Lizzy’s rendition of the Irish traditional tune “Whiskey in the Jar.” The song was one of 27 tracks off the band’s cover album, Garage Inc., and went on to earn Metallica a Grammy in 2000 for Best Hard Rock Performance. The video for “Whiskey in the Jar” features the members of Metallica — including Jason Newsted on bass — performing as the band at a rowdy all-female house party.

Watch the Metallica “Whiskey in the Jar” video here below.

Iron Maiden The Trooper Eddie

Iron Maiden‘s mascot Eddie is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable and popular figures in heavy metal. The band’s album covers have depicted Eddie as a killer, a mental patient, a soldier, a time-traveler, and much more. During live performances when a massive Eddie comes strolling onto the stage, the crowd goes wild.

Recently, Eddie ended up in Rio De Janeiro during Carnival, the famous annual pre-Lent celebration.

Check out a photo here below via the Iron Maiden Facebook page of Eddie colored purple with microphone in hand during the Carnival celebration.

Beauty And The Beast

We’ve featured TheHumanTim’s “ROCKS!” versions of various TV theme songs and other tunes, so for Valentine’s Day, we’re sharing with you his cover of the theme song for Disney’s animated feature Beauty and the Beast (one of my favorite Disney movies!).

While Tim’s rockin’ renditions are always entertaining, today’s installment has some special meaning to it: it contains a message about his co-worker’s 2-year-old niece, Jasmine, who has cancer. In the video, Tim is seen wearing a pink “Jasmine Strong” bracelet to encourage her and her family to keep on fighting. Visit jasminestrong.blogspot.com for information on how Jasmine’s situation and how you can help, including getting one of these pink bracelets.
