| Great Philly Comic-Con 2019 Panel: Hot Fuzz, Cool Frost With Nick Frost
Nick Frost, star of such movies as Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and At World’s End, and most recently, Fighting With my Family, and currently in AMC’s Into the Badlands, was a delight to fans at the Great Philly Comic-Con earlier this month, where he did photo ops, autographs, and a meaty panel. The panel gave us fans a chance to hear the man behind the mirth, and he did not disappoint. After getting comfy on the couches, they got right into it. You can see what he had to say, along with a video and some images from the panel, below.

This past weekend, The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center hosted 3 days of geek craziness at the Great Philadelphia Comic Con. The Con’s motto is “Get Ur Geek On” and fans poured in to meet celebrity guests, take in four panel rooms worth of Q&A discussions, weekend-long gaming tournaments, cosplay, and more. One of the celebrities I was most interested in meeting was Jeffrey Combs. A veteran character actor with over 130 credits to his name on IMDb, Combs was there in between co-stars from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Jake Busey from Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners. While many know him from his classic role as Dr. Herbest West in Re-Animator (1985), Combs has been performing as Edgar Allan Poe in a one-man show for a decade. I was able to speak with him about the convention, his career, and his upcoming work. I totally got my geek on!

Last week at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ, the 2019 New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival provided thousands of horror fans and gorehounds with an escape. Dozens of celebrity guests filled the halls signing autographs, doing Q&A panels, and posing for photos with adoring fans. One guest was David Howard Thornton who plays the crazy killer clown Art in Damien Leone’s Terrifier, streaming on Netflix now. In a year where Bill Skarsgard revamped the classic horror clown Pennywise for It: Chapter 1, Thornton’s Art may have been horror cinema’s most “terrifying” new painted face killer. On Friday, he appeared in costume for photo ops and even took a stroll around the convention floor to frighten and amuse eager guests. I got a chance to speak with him later that evening about the film, clowns, and an upcoming Terrifier sequel.

Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, also known as the Russo brothers, have been a part for the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2014, when they directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Their unique take on the superhero genre with an added political thriller vibe was so much of a success that they were brought in to oversee Captain America: Civil War, a smaller scale ensemble that brought in other heroes together to fight amongst themselves. They eventually went on to direct the final two Avengers films, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the latter of which hits theaters later this month. Geeks of Doom was invited to participate in the global press conference for Avengers: Endgame, where the Russo brothers talked about the upcoming and possibly final Avengers film, their approach to making films, and more. Check out what they had to say below.

Marvel Studios has been keeping some of the bigger plot details of Avengers: Endgame a secret for the better part of the past year. It’s a formula that has worked out for them as no one will expect to see some of the major surprises. Though many have their suspicions on what will happen in the sequel, no one but those close to the film and its production knows what will happen. During the global press conference for Endgame, Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Ronin), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Danai Gurira (Okoye), and Don Cheadle (War Machine) all opened up about what it was like play these iconic characters and moving on after being a part of a 10-year narrative.
