Written and directed by Kim Henkel (co-writer of Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre), 1994’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation is the fourth installment in the series. Originally screened as The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the movie, which stars Matthew McConaughey and Renée Zellweger, was shelved by Columbia Pictures until 1997 when it was re-cut and released as Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.

Incredibles 2 starts right after the end of the first film. Our heroic family, the Parrs, try to stop The Underminer from robbing a bank. They end up causing more harm than good when the Underminer’s tank causes a lot of damage. They did stop him, but there is still that pesky superhero law that forced them to go into hiding in the first place, and they lose their financial assistance on top of that. With help from their friends, they try to regain the public’s trust.

Based on author Clive Barker‘s short story, The Forbidden, 1992’s Candyman is the definitive horror film of the 1990s. Written and directed by British filmmaker Bernard Rose (Immortal Beloved), the film stars Virginia Madsen (Dune, Sideways) as Helen Lyle, a Chicago graduate student who is researching urban legends. She stumbles upon a local legend, the Candyman (Tony Todd), a hook-wielding phantom who haunts the city’s notorious Cabrini-Green housing project.

Maximum Overdrive marked the directorial debut of the most successful horror author of all time, Stephen King. The film and King’s direction were widely panned to the tune of 24% on Metacritic and a measly 17% on Rotten Tomatoes. Time has been kind however, as the film built a cult following over the years and now there’s a brand new collector’s edition Blu-ray out by Vestron Video.

Based on King’s short story “Trucks,” Maximum Overdrive is about a rag tag group of survivors battling sentient machines sprung to life due to a mysterious comet. While no one will confuse this with an Oscar-winning classic, or even a top King adaptation, there is a certain charm about this weird movie.
