Alvin Schwartz‘s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark may have been presented as a collection of children’s horror stories that is rooted in folklore and urban legend, but it is the basis of why those same kids who read all three volumes are fans of the horror genre now. I remember reading at least one book when I was a kid, but I’d never thought they would be able to turn all of that into a film. Now, CBS Films will be releasing an adaptation of the same name. In it, a group of young people attempt to solve a mystery that involves a series of spectacularly horrific deaths in their small hometown. We’ve been pretty eager to see CBS’s relaunch of The Twilight Zone on their streaming service ever since the network announced their plans for one. The addition of Jordan Peele as executive producer only added an extra layer of intrigue. And it seems very appropriate that they would drop the first look during one of the world’s biggest games, tonight’s Super Bowl. Of course, it also helps that they are the network to air it. With the release of Captain Marvel just a little over a month away, Marvel Studios is making one last push before the press tour kick off. We’ve seen plenty of trailers showing Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) making one crashing return to Earth with new questions about her mysterious past. It’s almost hard to believe that we are finally getting to see the James Cameron-produced Alita: Battle Angel. Initially set to be directed by Cameron before he fell in deep with his Avatar sequels, the long-awaited adaptation of the manga is now a Robert Rodriguez directorial effort. The film has been met with mixed reactions, with many praising the visual aesthetics while criticizing the lack of story. Now with the film ready for release, Fox is amping up the hype by releasing one final look at the film. Check it out here below.
