The Slaughter twins could not be more different, although identical. In trouble with their uptight teacher, and looking at a bleak future working at their parents’ McDonalds store, their whole adult lives may ride on this test. A freak storm brings their freaky murderous teacher, some freaky demonic followers, and some freaky golfers (?) to their doorstep, and from there it is a race for survival. Especially, after their drummer gets possessed by a dagger. Yes. A dagger.

The Movie God   |  @   |

Lord of the Rings/Hobbit One Ring

Earlier this month it was reported that Amazon was in talks with Warner Bros. Television and the estate of author J.R.R. Tolkien for the rights to adapt The Lord of the Rings into a TV series.

As it turns out, things were farther along than we thought. Amazon has confirmed that they have now reached a deal, and are officially committed to not just one single season of a Lord of the Rings TV series, but a multi-season adaptation of the timeless fantasy books Tolkien penned. But it won’t just be a new take on the story we saw play out in Peter Jackson’s movie trilogy. Instead, the series will focus on new storylines which take place before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring. And there’s even an added bonus to the deal that could mean an eventual spinoff series as well.

Writer Andy Weir made a name for himself with his successful debut The Martian, a self-published novel about an astronaut stranded on Mars that went on to make the New York Times Best Seller list in 2014 when it was reprinted by Crown Publishing. The science fiction tale was a hit with readers, and was later adapted for the big screen with Matt Damon as the ill-fated spaceman. Now, Weir is back in the cosmos with his follow-up novel, Artemis, another scifi story, this time set in the near-future on Earth’s first and only colony on the Moon. For the audiobook edition from Audible Studios, actress Rosario Dawson (Marvel’s Daredevil, Sin City, Clerks II) provides the narration.

Batman v Superman Ben Affleck Bat Signal

So the ongoing saga of whether or not Ben Affleck will continue to play Batman after Justice League continues. This has been pretty much a thing since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice failed to live up to expectations. Affleck has gone on record saying he doesn’t want to play as Batman anymore, only to pull a 180 just days – sometimes hours later – and say he is committed to the role for the foreseeable future. The actor has played The Batman three times so far: once in Batman v Superman, another in Suicide Squad, and a third coming up in this week’s Justice League.

But it appears that Affleck has grown tired of the superhero world and is setting his sights on hanging up the cape for good. However, unlike previous attempts to exit the DCEU, the actor is now reportedly looking for a “graceful and cool way to segue out of it.” More on the story below.

James Bond Daniel Craig

Now that Daniel Craig‘s final James Bond film is in very early development, there are various distributors vying for the right to release the film here in the States. Sony had been releasing James Bond films here in the U.S. since 2006’s Casino Royale. However, their deal expired after the release of 2015’s Spectre, leaving various studios ranging from Warner Bros. to Universal battling for the rights to distribute the next film under their banner. Now it looks like Annapurna could be the one to do so. More on the story below.
