Ehmm Theory focuses on Gabriel Ehmm, a young man who believes he was killed by his girlfriend and sent back to earth by Saint Peter to find out what’s causing dead people to rise as dwarf zombies. Accompanied by his talking cat Whispers and Alyona, an older woman who knew his biological parents, they are on the search for his father. Saint Peter told him he was the key to the mystery. But not everything, and everyone, are who they claim to be. This is an unusual comic. Third in a four part series, there are many aspects to the plot. Missing parents, multiple dimensions, monsters, superhero teams that may or may not be bad, jilted love and at the center a character who frankly isn’t that smart. And that aspect is what makes the comic a bit hard to get into. He doesn’t ever question anything. It would be buyable if it was once in a while, but given everything that happens to him that would be out of the norm for any person, it’s weird that he just goes with it.

Vamplets, Vol. 1 tells the story of Destiny Harper. A young lady, who is floating through life. She can’t figure out what she wants to do but she knows she has a knack with children and a taste for the occult. This makes her the perfect fit to be the new Governess for the Nightcare Nursery. Just like the toys the comic is based on, this story is adorable. There really isn’t any other way to phrase it. The art style is cute and inviting and the story feels straight out of a early morning anime cartoons like Honey Honey only with an occult twist.

The feisty Princess Adrienne is back, and she’s definitely not waiting around for a lame prince to come and “rescue” her. In Princeless, Vol. 2, writer Jeremy Whitley and illustrator Emily Martin continue along the heroine’s quest to save her sisters — as surely, no one else can. Warrior Princess Adrienne and the half-dwarf/half-human, Bedelia Smith, are on a mission: rescue Adrienne’s sister, Princess Angelica, from the tower that she’s a prisoner in. Accompanying them on their journey is a pretty-boy poet named Roderick, who happens to be in love with Angelica. As they enter the town gates, Adrienne and her allies quickly learn that Angelica is not as helpless as other princesses. In fact, she’s not only living outside of the tower, but she’s become an idol of sorts to the townspeople due to her overwhelming beauty. As Adrienne insists that she’s there to rescue Angelica, circumstances quickly turn for the worse when Angelica’s guardian demon is summoned seeking to kill Adrienne.

At first, you might shy away from Night of the ’80s Undead #1, because it’s an indie comic by a company that you may not have heard of before. BUT, I would strongly recommend that you give it a look, because behind the cover you will find one hell of a good time! I have to tip my hat to writer Jason Martin for coming up with a story that’s both funny and original. OK, in today’s comic world zombies aren’t totally an original idea, but what he does with them in this issue, is. Basically, all of your favorite movie stars from the ’80s become zombies and it’s not the fact that they’re zombies that’s funny, it’s what happens beforehand. Martin hasn’t left anything out when it comes to the setting of the story, even providing a soundtrack for the readers at the start of the issue. These are stylized versions of real life characters and he hits them on every note.
