We still have a little over a month before the first season of The Witcher arrives on Netflix, but apparently the streaming giant is excited about the project.

It was announced today that Netflix has already ordered a season two of the series, which is an adaptation of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski‘s book series of the same name we’ve previously seen adapted into the hit video game trilogy developed by CD Projekt RED.

A main trailer for Netflix’s adaptation of author Andrzej Sapkowski‘s book series The Witcher has been released online. In addition to that, the trailer also brings with it the long awaited release date for the first season of the show.

The series stars Henry Cavill as a witcher known as the White Wolf, Geralt of Rivia. Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, Jodhi May, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Adam Levy, MyAnna Buring, Mimi Ndiweni, Therica Wilson-Read, and Millie Brady also star.

Netflix has released the first trailer for The Witcher, a live-action series based on Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski‘s popular book series of the same name which was previously adapted into the hit video game series, also of the same name.

The series stars Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) as Geralt of Rivia, also known as the White Wolf. Geralt is a witcher, someone who is trained mentally, physically, and magically from a young age, and undergoes genetic modification. This gives them immense skills, which they often use to work as monster hunters for hire.

Now Netflix has announced a star for the series. Henry Cavill, who’s best known for playing Superman in DC Extended Universe titles Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League, is set to lead the cast of The Witcher as Geralt of Rivia.

Games, book, comics, film, television. This franchise has it all! The current release, Season of Storms, is apparently the sixth “Witcher” book, but eighth in the overall series from author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Now, having said that, I was not in any way deterred from reading this just because I had failed to read any of the previous books. Written and translated in such a way as to make it a perfectly acceptable standalone novel, I enjoyed it from cover to cover.
