A new Led Zeppelin app has been released and is available now for the iPhone and iPad.

The app details thousands of facts about the influential British rock band which featured Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones.

Packed with all the information you should ever wish to know about the giants of rock, it features every set list, TV appearance, a guide to every track recorded, photos, articles, quizzes and facts, articles, a hard rock ringtone, and wallpapers.

Despite officially breaking up over thirty years ago after the death of drummer Bonham, Led Zeppelin is still hugely popular. I for one can’t get enough Led Zep facts.

Boondock Saints Game For iOS The Boondock Saints Mobile Game
Platform: iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch App
Developer: Boondock Saints, LLC
Price: $2.99
iTunes

The brothers McManus have come to the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch in the form of a duel stick shooter game, complete with its own story that lives up to the characters from the cult film The Boondock Saints.

Let me first say that I like the idea of this game, which was probably overly ambitious given the platform. Players can choose either Connor or Murphy to charge into each level to do some mindless shooting with a range of weapons. The 14 total levels also feature gameplay by Noah and Romeo at certain points. After accomplishing each mission, you get a tattoo to show your experience.

The mobile game nails most characterization of the Boondock Saints movie, but the basic mechanics make the gameplay painfully slow as well as the response time to movement. And while I chose to play this game on a handheld device, the controls may be better with the larger screen on an iPad.

Still, like many of the very first arcade games in the ’80s, someone with skillful hand-eye coordination and lots of practice can definitely succeed.

As reported earlier, DC Comics has finally launched their digital publishing initiatives with a native application for Apple’s iOS4 mobile operating system (iPad, iPhone, iTouch) and two separate distribution deals with comic reader platform ComiXology and Sony’s PlayStation Network (PS3, PSP) — with plans to sell comics digitally through the DC Comics website later in the year [read DC Comics Releases iPad/iPhone App].

“As both a comic book creator and Co-Publisher, it was incredibly important that our plan includes not only creator incentive payments, but also an innovative component that supports comic shop owners. We see digital as an opportunity to grow our entire business,” stated Jim Lee in DC’s official press release.

Lee first spoke about the company’s digital comics publishing strategy at a Wonder*Con 2010 panel, which fell on the same day Apple’s iPad was released as well as Marvel Entertainment’s own native application. At the time he stressed that there was no market for digital publishing for the simple fact that no one was making money from it yet. With this new initiative, it’s looking like DC plans to change that entirely by building into its preexisting print sales.
