Summit Entertainment has released the final trailer Divergent, the studio’s big-screen adaptation of Veronica Roth‘s YA novel.

The film is set in a dystopian Chicago in a society where people are divided into five factions dedicated to a specific virtue: Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Then there are the “divergents,” those who cannot be categorized into one group, which puts them in danger, as those in charge want to rid the world of these people. Tris (Shailene Woodley) is one of these divergents.

Adaptation of YA Novels are a dime a dozen. So few of the ones that do launch find their way on the path of a sequel. How City of Bones did it is beyond me. But Summit Entertainment hopes that the adaptation of Veronica Roth‘s Divergent series is one of those to join the ranks of Harry Potter, Twilight, and The Hunger Games.

The film is set in a futuristic Chicago where all of its citizens are separated into classes based on their personality. Shailene Woodley plays Tris, a special breed of human who cannot be identified by her personality, therefore she is seen as a threat to society by the government. The movie, directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), stars Gerard Butler as disgraced former presidential guard Mike Banning, who becomes the only hope to retake control of the White House after terrorists attack and take the president, vice president, and secretary of defense hostage. The movie also stars Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett, Ashley Judd, Rick Yune, and Melissa Leo.
