If and when James Cameron begins filming his Avatar sequels, everyone will be closely watching if he can match or elevate the look and feel of Pandora. Avatar is only the highest grossing film of all time, so it is only fair that the audience get something that’s fresh and improved. Cameron has said that he will stop making non-Avatar films — after he said you would have to pry Battle Angel out of his cold dead hands – and sees himself making an Avatar 4. But if he really intends to make three sequels to Avatar, one can’t even imagine how long the film making process would actually take.

So rather than shoot these three sequels separately, why not shoot them all together at once? At least that’s what Avatar star Sigourney Weaver says will happen.

It’s looking more and more like it’s going to be a big summer at the box office. If The Hunger Games passing $600 million wasn’t enough (I know, it came out in March—movies don’t follow the seasons accurately), now the ultimate in superhero movies, The Avengers, has arrived, and it is laying waste to all that stand before it.

The movie, which is directed by geek god Joss Whedon, had already scored multiple hundreds of millions of dollars overseas before finally being released this past Friday here in the States. In midnight screenings alone, The Avengers pulled in $18.7 million on its way to a $207.4 million opening weekend. For those keeping track, that makes it the ALL-TIME biggest domestic opening ever recorded, usurping Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2‘s $169.1 million opening weekend as if brushing a particle of dust off one’s shoulder.

When talking about giving up the live-action Battle Angel to another director, James Cameron said that you would have to pry it from his cold dead hands. Well it seems that won’t be completely necessary, because the director sees himself being committed to making only Avatar movies.

In an interview with the New York Times, Cameron said that he only sees himself making Avatar films and focusing on documentary work. So that Battle Angel movie everyone has been waiting for will have to wait or just hope that he relinquishes Battle Angel and hand it off to another director. In fact, Cameron sees himself going beyond the generic trilogy of films and making an Avatar 4.

Some quarreling reports have made their way out into the world about the potential release window for James Cameron‘s sequel to the biggest movie ever made, Avatar.

Back in October of 2010 we found out that the plan appeared to be to shoot Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 back-to-back, and release them in the years 2014 and 2015, respectively. Now, according to sources, we might not even see the first sequel until the year 2016.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the elaborate attraction based on the popular film franchise that has drawn more than 7 million people to Universal Studios Orlando, is about bring its Sunshine State to the West Coast. Universal is currently finalizing a deal with Harry Potter film distributor and licensing rights holder Warner Bros. to build a replica of the Wizarding World attraction at their theme park in Hollywood, CA.
