Before your head explodes, no, this is not about a remake of the 1999 Will Smith western movie…not quite. Though surely you were all so very excited about just the thought of such a thing.

No, this is about the man behind the fantastic Battlestar Galactica reboot, Ronald D. Moore, and a new project he’s working on. According to reports, Moore is in the early stages of developing a series based on the ’60s western television series, The Wild Wild West. It was this show which the ’99 movie was based on.

Work on this potential new series is still at the very earliest stages, so pitches to networks are still off in the distance. Knowing Moore, however, it should be exciting to see what he comes up with and networks will surely be itching with anticipation.

Syfy’s cylontastic hour-long drama Caprica returns to the network tonight to finish out the second half of its season, which is said to be filled with multiple robot-sentient Zoe Graystones and more screen time for James Marsters‘ character Barnabas Greeley.

We’re just doing our duty as geek journalists by reminding everyone who didn’t catch our earlier post [Read:“˜Caprica’ Returning To SyFy Early, Oct. 5 Premiere].

So, consider this your official notice to do the following:

‘Battlestar Galactica’ & ‘Eureka’ Episodes Added To Netflix Watch Instantly

Battlestar GalacticaNetflix subscribers who have been bored with the selection of streaming media available might take notice of some recent additions to their library, namely Battlestar Galactica.

But for anyone who hasn’t seen the show and has been wanting to start, don’t clear your DVD queue just yet. The first disc of the season 1 set is only available to rent as a DVD for some strange reason. This disc contains the 2-part miniseries that was created prior to being given a green light for a full season. And apparently it counts differently, except for that it’s listed as the official first two episodes of the show now.

The addition of the BSG episodes are part of a deal Netflix struck with NBC to add older content to its library, which also includes over 100 episodes of Saturday Night Live, Eureka, and much more.

‘Caprica’ Returning To SyFy Early, Oct. 5 Premiere

Fans of the Battlestar Galactica prequel series Caprica no longer have to wait until January 2011 for new episodes, according to the SyFy Channel.

The network announced that the show’s 1.5 season premiere will now air October 5 at 10 PM EST following the premiere of Stargate Universe. Sanctuary, which was originally intended for this time slot, has been bumped back to October 15 — a Friday.

For the majority of Caprica fans (e.g., people who are reading this article) the new time slot gives them back their Friday nights, but who knows how it’ll affect DVR and TiVo numbers. One thing that may hurt the show on a Tuesday may be the non-geek crowd that perhaps watched the show because nothing else compared to it on a Friday night.

Time will tell, but I’ve heard there are multiple Zoe Greystones for the last half of the season, so I can’t imagine ratings would dip.

Check out a clip of the upcoming episodes embedded below.

One of the biggest names in science fiction entertainment today is without doubt Ronald D. Moore.

Along with David Eick, Moore created one of the greatest TV shows of all time in the brilliant reinvention of Battlestar Galactica. Aside from that series radiating from his resume, Moore got his start in the realms of Star Trek, writing and producing on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, and working on the screenplays for movies Generations and First Contact. But now Moore is ready to jump into a new type of show: fantasy.

It’s being reported that Moore has a new project lining up at NBC Universal that’s a fantasy drama being compared to an adult Harry Potter. Instead of all of the elements of a science fiction, this time around we’ll be seeing a lot of magic in the show, which is through Sony TV.
