SCREAM 2009 Awards To Spotlight ‘Twilight,’ ‘True Blood’ & ‘Battlestar Galactica’

Spike TV will televise the fourth annual SCREAM Awards, a 2-hour ceremony rewarding all things sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and comic book, on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 10 PM, ET/PT.

At this year’s awards event, which will be taped in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 17, there will be a cast appearance and world premiere footage from the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon, as well as an appearance by the cast and creators of the HBO series True Blood, including Alan Ball, Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin, Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd, and Sam Trammell, among others.

As a special treat for those of us who miss our Battlestar Galactica, there will be a cast reunion for the beloved SciFi Channel series with a farewell tribute featuring Edward James Olmos, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park, James Callis, Kate Vernon, Katee Sackhoff, Michael Trucco, Tahmoh Penikett, and executive producer David Eick.

Geeks of Doom Invades Dragon Con 2009

What happens when you mesh mirror-like shards commonly found on disco balls with the finest soldiers this side of the Darth Vader’s Empire? Disco Trooper, who in this case decided to crash the Battlestar Galactica‘s Fleet party at Dragon*Con 2009.

I followed around the groove jivin’ man inside the Disco Trooper suit, Chris Lee. Interestingly, he was accompanied by an entourage of folks that flashed strobe lights on him whenever it looked as if a picture was being taken. Also, there was a guy dressed as a nun — well either it was a guy or a really convincing asexual lady of the cloth.

Either way, I brought the flipcam along. Video starts with me questioning the ethics of this gathering in the company of the Holy Sister and ends with Disco Trooper bustin’ moves to Lady Gaga…

Geeks of Doom Invades Dragon Con 2009

James MarstersJames Marsters gave details about the role his character will play in the upcoming Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica in a fan panel at Dragon*Con 2009.

“I saw the pilot. All I have to say is I was disturbed and had to shut it off,” Marsters said, after explaining that he can’t go into too much detail since the show is months away from airing.

He did add that playing a role with darker, most serious tone was very exciting.

‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Star James Marsters Next To Join ‘Caprica’

Yesterday we found out that comedian Patton Oswalt had joined the cast of the Battlestar Galactica prequel series, Caprica. Now comes word that another well-known name to the geek community will be joining the cast as well.

MTV News is reporting that Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel star James Marsters has officially joined the cast of the show, which is set to begin it’s first season (after the prequel movie, of course) in January of 2010. Marsters will play a character named Barnabus Greeley, a terrorist who’s having troubles distinguishing whether what he does is right, or horribly wrong.
